What is Benovate Virtual Care?
Virtual care, or telehealth, is a faster, easier way to see a medical provider. You can have video visits from your webcam enabled computer or smartphone by logging into your Benovate account at http://portal.benovate.com or the Benovate app. Click “Talk to a Doctor” to get started. It's easy to use, private, and secure.
When can I use virtual care through Benovate?
This service is available 24/7/365. You don’t have to go anywhere, so it’s convenient to use when you’re traveling, too sick or busy to go into the doctor’s office, or aren’t sure if something needs medical attention. Virtual care may be used for non-emergency, low acuity medical issues or conditions.

*When medically necessary, MeMD providers can submit a prescription electronically for purchase and pick-up at your local participating pharmacy; however, MeMD providers cannot prescribe elective medications, narcotic pain relievers, or controlled substances. MeMD’s providers are each licensed by the appropriate licensing board for the state in which they are providing services and all have prescriptive authority for each of the states in which they are licensed.
What is the cost?
Virtual care visits through Benovate are typically cheaper than seeing a medical provider in person. Visits are $49 if paid in full, however some member’s visits are at no extra out-of-pocket cost. Talk with your Benovate provider to determine your cost.
$0 visits are capped at three visits per individual, per month. Each visit above the cap will be charged at MeMD's then-current standard visit fee rate, collected at the time of service.
Can I use virtual care when I’m traveling?
Absolutely! Virtual care is great when you’re traveling and unable to see your primary care provider. Telehealth visits may have restrictions when taking place from some states. Before you start a visit you will be asked what state you are in to determine eligibility. During intake, you will need to request the consultation from the state you are currently in, not the state you live in.
Who are the medical providers?
Benovate partners with MeMd to provide online medical consultations with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who can write prescriptions when medically necessary and permitted by state law. MeMD is not an online pharmacy, and medications cannot be purchased or dispensed from MeMD directly. MeMD is not a replacement for your primary care physician or an annual doctor’s office visit. MeMD is available 24/7 nationwide, subject to state regulations.
MeMd providers are board certified and credentialed to NCQA standards and have incorporated virtual health into their practice as a way to provide a cost-effective alternative to traditional medical care.
How do I sign-up?
You must have a Benovate account in order to use virtual care. If you are eligible, you would have received a verification email from [email protected] on your group’s program launch date. For security reasons, everyone must sign up with their own link - do not share it with anyone else. If you cannot find your verification email, please contact us at [email protected] or 877-236-6828 with your full name, date of birth, email address and employer and we will send you a new one.
How do I add my spouse?
If spouses are eligible to participate, your spouse will need a separate Benovate account. Please check with your benefits provider to determine eligibility. Your employer may not make this service available to spouses or dependents. Please check with your benefits provider to determine eligibility.

Can my child under 18 use my account for a visit?
If dependents are eligible to participate, you will need to create a seperate profile for your child under 18 so they have their own medical profile and history. Please check with your benefits provider to determine eligibility.
What should I do if I have a child over 18 that needs to use the service?
Not all employers offer the service to dependents over 18. Check with your benefits provider, and if they are eligible they should enroll as an adult and create their own separate account.
