5 Down and Dirty Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring is a time of renewal and rejuvenation, and nothing brings that front and center more than spring cleaning. Most of us have a box (or five) that need to be cleared out or a long list of projects to tackle and there’s always room for a little help or simplification.

Whether you’re hoping to give your house a little spruce up or doing a deep clean, we’ve got eight spring-cleaning tips that will help you get your house cleaner, faster.

1. Make a List

Everything seems more doable when you write it down and a great list brings order to chaos. Plan ahead and anticipate what needs to be done and how long it will take with a thorough to-do list ahead of time.

2. Imagine Your House as a Grid

Break your apartment or house into smaller areas to make cleaning seem less daunting. Start with your least favorite area (for many it’s the dreaded bathroom) and work your way towards the easiest to make your day go that much faster.

3. Keep a Well-Stocked Kit

Keeping a cleaning kit ready to go will make gearing up to spring clean that much easier. Stock it with your favorite cleaning products, dusting cloths, paper towels, squeegees and more.

4. Clean from Top to Bottom

As you clean, chances are some dust or dirt will fall from the counters onto your floors so we recommend doing those last. This will help decrease the likelihood that you’ll have to go over any trouble areas.

5. Rock Out

Music is a great backdrop to almost anything and spring cleaning is no exception. Throw on your favorite upbeat playlist and jam out while you whip through your to-do list.

There are few things more satisfying than clearing out the junk and gunk from a long winter. While spring cleaning may not be your idea of a fun day, our tips help make it more manageable and a much easier task.
